Marking the continued evolution of one of its most celebrated collections, IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled a striking new edition of the Ingenieur Automatic 35, introducing a fresh dial colour aptly named "Pool." Inspired by shimmering aquamarine waters, the vibrant new hue brings a contemporary, summer-ready aesthetic to the luxury sports watch while preserving the timeless design language that has defined the Ingenieur for decades.
Originally conceived in 1976 by legendary watch designer Gerald Genta, the Ingenieur SL Reference 1832 revolutionised sports watch design with its bold architecture, integrated bracelet and unmistakable industrial elegance. Nearly fifty years later, Genta's vision continues to inspire IWC's modern interpretation of the Ingenieur, first reintroduced in 2023 with the Ingenieur Automatic 40 before expanding into a more compact 35 mm format.

The latest Ingenieur Automatic 35 (Ref. IW324902) pairs its refined 35 mm stainless steel case with an integrated stainless steel bracelet, offering exceptional comfort and versatility for a wide range of wrist sizes. The centrepiece is undoubtedly the new "Pool" dial, whose bright aquamarine tone lends a fresh, contemporary character to the collection.

Remaining true to the Ingenieur's distinctive identity, the dial features the signature grid-like "network" pattern, creating remarkable depth and texture as it catches the light. Rhodium-plated hands and Super-LumiNova®-filled indices provide excellent legibility, while the iconic bezel, secured by five functional screws, reinforces the collection's unmistakable design DNA.
"Our new colour 'Pool' is a fresh, bright aquamarine shade that feels made for summer and gives the Ingenieur a vibrant, unexpected personality," says Christian Knop, Creative Director at IWC Schaffhausen. "The dial responds beautifully to changing light and complements the clean lines and balanced proportions of the integrated, Genta-inspired bracelet design."
As with every Ingenieur, meticulous attention has been paid to the finishing. Satin-brushed and polished surfaces across the case and bezel create a dynamic play of light, while polished centre links contrast elegantly with satin-finished H-links on the bracelet. Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal case back showcasing the IWC-manufactured Calibre 47110 automatic movement, decorated with Geneva stripes, circular graining and a gold-plated oscillating weight. The movement delivers a reliable 42-hour power reserve.
The introduction of the "Pool" dial further expands the Ingenieur Automatic 35 family, which now comprises six references. Alongside the new model are stainless steel versions with silver-plated and black dials, a full 18-carat 5N gold model with a matching gold-tone dial, a dark blue dial edition and a luxurious diamond-set 18-carat 5N gold version unveiled earlier this year at Watches & Wonders Geneva.
Blending Gerald Genta's enduring design legacy with modern engineering and exceptional finishing, the latest Ingenieur Automatic 35 demonstrates IWC Schaffhausen's commitment to continually evolving one of luxury watchmaking's most iconic sports watches. With its refreshing new "Pool" dial, the collection gains a bold new expression that is as contemporary as it is timeless.
