When the spotlight sweeps across the Croisette this spring, the first gleam to dazzle the Riviera won’t be a camera flash but the glint of ethical yellow gold. From 13 – 24 May 2025, Chopard once again steps into its cherished role as Official Partner of the 78 th Cannes International Film Festival, renewing a bond with cinema that has endured for nearly three decades.

A Trophy Reimagined, a Tradition Born

The romance began in 1997, when Chopard’s Co‑President and Artistic Director Caroline Scheufele agreed to redesign the Festival’s ultimate accolade, the Palme d’or. Her bold vision introduced a heart‑shaped stem cradling 19 delicate, hand‑textured leaves, all sculpted in Fairmined 18‑carat yellow gold and poised on an emerald‑cut rock‑crystal pedestal. In the years since, this luminous icon has become inseparable from the magic of Cannes, its refractions echoing every emotion captured on‑screen.

78 Years, 78 Jewelled Masterpieces

Inside the same Geneva ateliers where the Palme d’or is wrought, Chopard’s master artisans have been setting the stage for a dazzling premiere of their own. True to an annual ritual, the Maison unveils one Haute Joaillerie piece for each edition of the Festival; this year’s 78‑strong Red Carpet Collection, launching on 13 May, is themed Caroline’s Universe—an intimate journey through the inspirations that shape Scheufele’s imagination. Expect sapphires in nebular blues, diamond constellations, and avant‑garde silhouettes that blur the line between jewellery and wearable art.

Shining a Spotlight on Tomorrow’s Stars

Beyond adorning legends, Chopard nurtures fresh talent through the Trophée Chopard, now in its 25 th year. During the Festival’s official dinner on 16 May, actress Marie Colomb and actor Finn Bennett will receive the coveted statuette from a formidable trio: Godmother Angelina Jolie, Festival President Iris Knobloch, and General Delegate Thierry Frémaux, joined of course by Caroline Scheufele. Past recipients have ascended to Oscar stages and international acclaim—proof that this crystalline accolade is often a prophecy fulfilled.

A Night of Reverie: The Chopard Grand Soirée

The Riviera’s social calendar reaches a crescendo on 19 May, when Chopard hosts its legendary grand soirée. More than a party, the evening is an immersive tableau in which jewels, couture and cinema coalesce. Pieces from the Red Carpet Collection will debut on luminaries draped in Caroline’s Couture gowns—each stitch and stone conspiring to tell stories of glamour, artistry and bold femininity.

Glamour With a Purpose

Chopard’s commitment to beauty extends beyond the silver screen. As Presenting Sponsor of the amfAR Gala Cannes at the Hôtel du Cap‑Eden‑Roc, the Maison lends its sparkle to one of the year’s most influential charity evenings, where auction paddles raise life‑saving funds against HIV/AIDS. Celebrities bedecked in high jewellery become ambassadors for hope, proving that luxury and philanthropy can share the same stage.

A Rooftop Above the Frenzy

Throughout the 12‑day Festival, the Maison’s chic haven—the Chopard Rooftop on the 7 th floor of the Hôtel Martinez—will host interviews, styling sessions and sunset cocktails. Partners including San Pellegrino, Nespresso, Perrier‑Jouët, Copenhagen Sparkling Tea and Vins Monestier La Tour ensure every palate is as pampered as the red‑carpet regulars. Skin‑care expert Dr. Burgener keeps complexions camera‑ready, while automotive ally Genesis whisks VIPs between premieres with signature flair.

Craftsmanship, Conscience, Cinema

At its core, Chopard’s Cannes odyssey is a celebration of craftsmanship married to conscience. The Maison’s transition to 100 % ethical gold in 2018 set a benchmark for the industry, mirroring the Festival’s own embrace of diversity and sustainability. Together, they remind us that timeless elegance derives not only from how something looks, but from how it is made.

As the final spotlight flickers on 24 May and the Palme d’or is raised aloft, the echo of La Croisette will linger in every facet of Chopard’s creations. For Caroline Scheufele and her artisans, Cannes is more than a date on the calendar; it is a muse, a laboratory of dreams, and the ultimate proving ground where jewellery becomes cinema’s silent yet scintillating co‑star.

So when you watch the winners climb those celebrated steps this year, keep an eye on the gold that glimmers at their wrists, ears and—most famously—in their hands. Each shimmer tells a story that began in the alchemy of Chopard’s workshops and culminates on the most storied red carpet in the world.
